Vacuum casting, also known as silicone casting or prototype casting, is an affordable alternative to injection molding for small batches of plastic parts. Usually the mold uses a CNC or SLA part as a prototype, made of silicone material, and casts polyurethane PU material through a vacuum casting process to manufacture the part. The replica can accurately replicate the structure, details and texture of the prototype part, and provide a consistent surface finish with the prototype, achieving similar results to injection molding production.
